Realtors® from the Realtors® Association of the Palm Beaches (RAPB) had the honor to meet with recently elected District 18 U.S. Representative Brian Mast last Friday along with members from the Jupiter, Tequesta, Hobe Sound Council of the Miami Association of Realtors® and the Realtor® Association of Martin County. The Meet & Greet event, hosted at the Stuart Boathouse in Stuart, provided Realtor® members with the opportunity to hear from Congressman Mast about his first two months in Washington D.C. & how he’s learning the ropes of the political process. Florida Realtors® President Maria Wells started the event off by letting Congressman Mast know that Realtors® want to build a stronger relationship & will always be there as a resource to him.
Congressman Mast gave updates on the committees he sits on, including the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, which provides him with a unique opportunity to address water quality along the Treasure Coast. He also addressed hot-button Realtor® issues like preserving the Mortgage Interest Deduction (MID) and 1031 Like-Kind Exchange throughout the upcoming comprehensive tax reform process.
RAPB’s Leadership will be traveling to Washington D.C. in May for the National Association of Realtors® Legislative Meetings & Trade Expo where they’ll delve deeper into REALTOR® Party issues.
