When you hear the term “bake sale”, you might envision an elementary school raising money for a field trip or a quiet fundraiser for a local charity. When our Realtor® members hear “bake sale”, they envision something completely different. On Friday February 23rd, the Realtors® of the Palm Beaches and Greater Fort Lauderdale held the annual Realtor® Party Bake Sale in Port St. Lucie. This unique fundraiser is a Treasure Coast specialty that brings together Realtors®, affiliates and elected officials for a breakfast like no other.
The event began with a silent auction full of delectable baked goods and an association update from RAPB+GFLR CEO Dionna Hall. After her update, she handed the mic over to Congressman Brian Mast (FL-18) who gave an update on bills moving through Congress. He touched on the recently passed tax cuts and President Trump’s proposed infrastructure plan.
The topic that drew the most discussion and questions from the audience was high speed rail safety. Congressman Mast reiterated his commitment to vehicular, maritime and pedestrian safety when Congress approves certain permits needed to build high speed rail transportation in Martin and St. Lucie County. RAPB+GFLR sincerely thanks Congressman Mast for taking the time out of his busy schedule to speak to our members.
Next came the main event; the highly anticipated live auction. RAPB+GFLR member, and our resident auctioneer, Reed Hartman auctioned off 8 cakes and 4 pies which were destined for the faces of our First Vice President Jarrod Lowe, RPAC Vice Chair Julio Sanchez, Government Affairs Committee Chair Anthony Gambardella and Treasure Coast Regional Board Chair Jim Weix (pictured above). After an intense 30 minutes of bidding the live auction came to a close and bids were totaled. This year’s Realtor Party Bake Sale raised a grand total of $6,365! We must thank all the Realtors® and affiliates that contributed baked goods to the live and silent auctions. This event would not consistently be a success without their hard work.
