For the past two months, the Realtors® Association of the Palm Beaches Government Affairs Team has been monitoring a proposed Fire Assessment Fee that would have been imposed on all Greenacres property owners. If passed, the Fire Assessment Fee would have been a burden on fixed income homeowners, prospective homeowners looking to relocate to Greenacres and local businesses.
Following the Greenacres City Council meeting on Monday, August 1, 2016 we are proud to announce that the proposed ordinance has been defeated!
The defeat of this fee will ultimately save the tax payers of Greenacres, on average, over $1 million per year. Your Government Affairs Team worked directly with elected city officials to show them the negative impact this fee would have on property owners, if passed.
The Realtors® Association of the Palm Beaches would like to give special thanks to Councilwoman Paula Bousquet, Councilman Peter Noble and Mayor Samuel Ferreri for their continued support in opposing burdensome fees on homeowners and business owners.
To give you an idea of how much money you will be saving next year, please see below a breakdown of what would have been, the Fire Assessment Fee Schedule.
