SIGN CODES


We know that sign codes can be confusing. Signs can only be 3 square feet in Boca Raton, they must be setback 8 feet from the property line in Palm Beach Gardens but can be placed at 5 feet in Wellington, brokers must pay a fee only in Port St. Lucie; the list goes on and on. We want to simplify that for you. Below is information regarding general restrictions and rules along with sign size restrictions and setback requirements by municipality for all of Broward, Palm Beach, Martin and St. Lucie County. 


General Restrictions for Broward, Palm Beach, Martin & St. Lucie Counties 

  • In all counties and local municiaplities, no permit is required to construct a residential "For Sale/Rent" real estate sign
  • Signs cannot be illuminated
  • Only one double-faced sign allowed per street frontage for residential properties
  • A property with two or more street frontages shall be allowed 1 additional sign

Sign Size and Setback Restrictions by Municipality

Boca Raton

  • Sign cannot exceed 3 sq. ft. in area
  • Sign cannot exceed 4 ft. in height
  • Two additional 2 sq. ft. signs allowed

Coral Springs

  • In general, sign cannot exceed 3 sq. ft. in residential zoning
  • "Open House" sign cannot be placed in the road median
  • Signs permitted for Thurs. 11AM-4PM & Sat/Sun 12PM-5PM  

Fort Lauderdale

  • One off premise "Open House" directional sign allowed
  • "Open House" sign must contain name of sign owner
  • Signs may only be displayed from 9:00AM-6:00PM

Fort Pierce

  • Sign cannot exceed 6 sq. ft.
  • Cannot utilize yellow or red fluorescent colors
  • Multi-family unit signs cannot exceed 16 sq. ft. 

North Palm Beach

  • Sign cannot exceed 5 sq. ft. in area
  • Sign cannot exceed 5 ft. in height
  • Front setback shall be 10 ft. & side setback 3 ft.

Port St. Lucie

  • Brokers must pay a $150 blanket fee every year
  • Single-Family sign cannot exceed 4 sq. ft. in area
  • Multi-Family sign cannot exceed 6 sq. ft.

Wellington

  • Sign cannot exceed 3 sq. ft. in area
  • Sign shall be setback 5 ft. from all property lines
  • 1 sign attachment, not to exceed 6"x24", allowed

Wilton Manors

  • Sign cannot exceed 4 sq. ft.
  • Open House signs only permitted on the for-sale property 
  • Sign must be taken down 7 days after sale is completed

Boynton Beach

  • Sign cannot exceed 5 sq. ft.
  • Sign cannot exceed  4 ft. in height
  • Must be setback 10 ft. from the property line

Jupiter

  • Sign cannot exceed 4 sq. ft.
  • Sign cannot exceed 5 ft. in height
  • Must be set back 10 ft. from public right-of-way

Lighthouse Point

  • Sign shall not exceed 3 sq. f.t
  • Sign must be setback at least 5 ft. from the property line
  • One off-premise sign permitted, must have address listed

Parkland

  • Sign cannot exceed 3 sq. ft.
  • Sign must be set back at least 5 ft. from public right of way
  • Sign must be removed immediately after the sale/closing

Palm Beach Gardens

  • Sign cannot exceed 6 sq. ft. in area
  • Sign cannot exceed 5 ft. in height
  • Must be setback  at least 8 ft. from property line

Pompano Beach

  • Signs must be 4 sq. ft. for single& two family zone
  • Signs can be up to 12 sq. ft. in multi-family zones
  • Only one sign per street frontage

Stuart

  • Sign cannot exceed 3 sq. ft.
  • Sign shall not be 4 ft. above adjacent grade
  • Multi-Family signs cannot exceed 16 sq. ft.

West Palm Beach

  • Sign cannot exceed 6 sq. ft. in area
  • Sign cannot exceed 6 ft. in height
  • Must be setback 15 ft. from public right-of-way
